How to Reach Dakshineswar Temple Kolkata by Metro
One of the easiest ways to reach Dakshineswar Temple Kolkata is by metro.
We started our journey from Shyambazar Metro Station and directly reached Dakshineswar Metro Station via the North-South metro line.
From the metro station, there is a well-built skywalk that directly connects to the temple area. This skywalk is very helpful, especially during rush hours and festivals.
👉 Tip: Morning time is less crowded compared to afternoon and evening.
Dakshineswar Kali Temple – First Impression
After walking through the skywalk, we reached the main area of the Dakshineswar Mandir.
The temple looks beautiful from outside, with its traditional architecture and peaceful surroundings. Even before entering, you can feel a spiritual vibe here.
Near the entrance, there are multiple shops where you can buy prasad (sweets, flowers, etc.) for Maa Kali.
Mobile, Shoes & Entry Rules (Important Info)
One important thing to know before visiting Dakshineswar Temple Kolkata:
- ❌ Mobile phones are not allowed inside the temple
- ❌ Cameras are strictly prohibited
- 👟 Shoes must be kept outside
💰 Charges (Approximate)
- Shoe keeping: ₹2 – ₹5 per pair
- Mobile deposit: ₹5 – ₹10 per phone
These charges are very minimal and well-managed.
👉 Because of this rule, I could not record inside the temple, but trust me — the darshan experience is peaceful.
Dakshineswar Temple Timings
If you are searching for Dakshineswar Temple timings, here is the updated schedule:

- Opening Time: 5:30 AM
- Darshan till: 12:30 PM
⏰ Evening
- Reopens: 3:00 PM
- Closing Time: 8:30 PM
👉 Timings may vary slightly on festivals, especially during Kali Puja.
Parking at Dakshineswar Temple
If you are coming by your own vehicle, there is a dedicated parking area near the temple.
💰 Parking Charges (Approx.)
- Two-wheeler: ₹10 – ₹20
- Car: ₹30 – ₹50
In our case, we had our Hero Xoom 125 scooty parked at the station parking, and the process was smooth.
Ganga Ghat Experience – Must Visit
After darshan, we went to the Dakshineswar Ganga Ghat, which is just beside the temple.
This is honestly one of the most peaceful parts of the trip.

- Devotees sitting and relaxing
- Boats and ferry (launch) services visible
There is also a ferry service between Dakshineswar and Belur Math, which is a very popular route.
👉 If you have time, definitely sit here for 10–15 minutes.
Bali Bridge Sunset View – Hidden Gem
After finishing everything, we started our return journey on our scooty.
We crossed the famous Bali Bridge, and that moment was just amazing.
